Editor’s note
There’s no getting around it: AWS re:Invent 2020 was different than any previous version of the show. Amazon’s annual cloud conference has grown into one of the largest gatherings in IT, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced AWS to hold the event virtually this year.
The virtual setting of the event hindered opportunities to network, but it also opened the conference to an audience that didn’t previously have the means to attend. AWS re:Invent 2020 was free, and there were no limits on how many people could attend sessions. The primary activities extended over three weeks, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 18, with additional breakout sessions expected to go live from Jan. 12 to Jan. 14, 2021.
Despite the changes, some aspects of re:Invent were the same. There was a bevy of feature updates, new services and discussions on broader cloud computing trends as AWS tried to set the agenda in the cloud market for the year ahead.
Use this guide to help you navigate the conference with the latest news, analysis and expert advice about AWS and re:Invent.
