Inmarsat launches ELERA IoT platform, enabling flexible IoT connectivity for businesses

Inmarsat launches ELERA IoT platform, enabling flexible IoT connectivity for businesses

ELERA IoT is built on the ultra-reliable connectivity backbone of Inmarsat ELERA. It supports businesses, distribution partners and IoT solutions or ecosystem providers with a comprehensive and flexible range of tools.

Inmarsat today launches ELERA IoT, a platform of IoT connectivity services, solutions and ecosystems.

ELERA IoT is built on the connectivity backbone of Inmarsat ELERA, the world’s most reliable network for the Internet of Things (IoT) and secure narrowband connectivity.

ELERA IoT provides businesses, IoT solutions developers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), IoT-as-a-service providers and Inmarsat distribution partners with the satellite connectivity tools to meet all of their IoT needs.

ELERA IoT’s range of reliable, global, fully mobile and easy-to-use connectivity services are suitable for all industries and locations, helping businesses to fuel their IoT progress and innovations, today and tomorrow. Businesses can track assets with small form factor IsatData Pro (IDP), monitor and control with BGAN M2M, or create their own IoT ecosystems or commercial offerings, using Inmarsat’s powerful new leasing services. In addition to these currently available services, Inmarsat is also developing new IoT connectivity services and collaborating with ORBCOMM on OGx, their next generation IoT services, offering the best-in-class combination of high bandwidth data packets with low-cost terminals, which are expected to launch in 2022.

Demonstrating the power of Inmarsat’s leasing capabilities, ELERA IoT is also providing the connectivity fabric for innovative, IoT eco-system providers including ORBCOMM, Hiber, and Skylo. In addition, the Inmarsat Application and Solution Provider (ASP) programme is the marketplace for IoT solutions that work anywhere. Fully integrated with the ELERA network and developed by industry innovators, the ASP providers deliver disruptive solutions to the agriculture, electrical utilities, mining, oil and gas, and transport and logistics sectors.

Commenting on the launch of ELERA IoT, Mike Carter, President of Inmarsat Enterprise said:
“Covid-19 has demonstrated the importance of industrial IoT to the global production and supply chains. Eighty four per cent of businesses that Inmarsat spoke with in our recent research have sped up deployment of IoT, or plan to, because of Covid. Those that have already done so have fared better during the pandemic. As businesses plot their route in the new normal, the rate of IoT adoption is only set to increase.”

“Inmarsat’s new ELERA IoT platform is primed to support the entire IoT delivery ecosystem with connectivity that works anywhere. It provides the most versatile set of IoT tools to empower businesses producing and distributing goods across global supply chains, as well as the technology companies and solution providers servicing them.”

“It is a springboard for innovation, connecting people to IoT solutions that can reshape their world wherever they are and whatever they do. Whether an agricultural producer looking for a cattle watering solution, an IoT solution provider looking to break into new markets, or an IoT ecosystem provider, looking for a satellite connectivity backbone, Inmarsat has the ideal satellite connectivity option.”

“We’re pleased to expand our long-term, successful partnership with Inmarsat as they launch ELERA IoT, which provides the reliability, longevity and ubiquity to support ORBCOMM’s next-generation OGx service,” said Christian Allred, ORBCOMM’s EVP of Global Sales. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Inmarsat to deliver best-in-class IoT satellite products, services and solutions to our global customers that enable nearly every type of industrial asset to be smart and remotely connected.”
